Raman Spectroscopy
The micro-Raman spectrometer is a DILOR Labram instrument equipped with an Olympus microscope with an internal He-Ne laser and an external Ar-ion laser. Three exciting wavelengths are available: 488 nm, 514.5 nm, 632 nm. Currently we run the instrument at 514.5 nm.
Micro-Raman spectroscopy allows the identification of mineral species, liquids and gas species in fluid inclusions at a micrometer-scale resolution. No special sample preparation is required except for the fluid inclusions analysis. Micro-Raman spectroscopy is the choice for destruction free gemological analysis.
